KOTA TINGGI: The quarantine and treatment centers for low-risk patients available across the country are ready to be reactivated if the increase in cases continues, said Health Minister Dr. Adham Baba.

He said there are currently 36 such centers in government hospitals, health ministry training institutes (ILKKM) and other places that have been published by the National Security Council, including the Malaysia Agricultural Exhibition Park (MAEPS) in Serdang. , Selangor.

“We are always ready (to activate these quarantine centers) and renovate places like the ILKKM.

“If there is an increase in cases, we will reactivate them,” he told reporters after the closing of a city hall session on the new rules to prevent the spread of Covid-19 with the leaders of Combi (Communication for Behavioral Impact) here today. Combi is a community initiative of the World Health Organization.

Adham said the quarantine centers could provide 3,467 beds and the ministry would discuss with other training institutes the possibility of using them as additional centers if the situation warrants.

Meanwhile, Adham said that around 20 million people are using the MySejahtera phone app, with 1 billion records recorded across the country.

“Two factors that had allowed us to detect Covid-19 quickly are the effectiveness of our team in tracking and preparing our 58 labs, including private labs, for testing,” he said.
