On September 8, Lovelyz’s Mijoo released an official apology following the controversy surrounding the comments she made on her web variety show. His full apology is translated below:
Hi. This is Mijoo from Lovelyz.
I realized that a video for “Mijoo Pickchu” became controversial, so I have delivered an apology to the person in question through the production team. At that time, we received the guest’s consent, but I would like to once again apologize for making a careless comment without thinking that it would cause many fans and viewers to feel uncomfortable.
Once again, I apologize to the guest who is not a celebrity and who must have been more distressed by this situation, and I will become more cautious with her words and behavior and work harder.
I am once again sorry that I caused so many people to feel concerned.

In late June, Mijoo shared a conversation with a male guest who was the same age as her on the web variety show “Mijoo Pickchu” on The K-POP YouTube channel. During the conversation, Mijoo asked, “Do you have a girlfriend?” and “How far have you come with her?” The guest replied that he had been dating his girlfriend for 200 days and Mijoo commented, “You must have gone all the way, that’s for sure.”
After the guest tried to deny it, Mijoo asked, “Are you a man?” and looked in the direction of his legs. The production team added the caption: “Why are you looking down?” and asked, “Where are you looking?” but Mijoo said, “It’s a misunderstanding.”
