Former Prime Minister Najib Razak said that DAP veteran Lim Kit Siang was being criticized on Facebook for not apologizing after he was proven wrong about his claims on many occasions.

PETALING JAYA: Former Prime Minister Najib Razak criticized DAP veteran Lim Kit Siang for his relentless attacks on his integrity, but at the same time remained silent on his broken promises and his son’s corruption charges.

He said that if Kit Siang cared to look at his Facebook posts, he would know that he was being insulted and criticized by hundreds of thousands of Malaysians for not apologizing after he was proven wrong about his claims many times.

Referring to Kit Siang’s promise to leave politics if Dr. Mahathir Mohamad did not hand over the post of prime minister to Anwar Ibrahim as promised during the GE14 campaign, he said Kit Siang had conveniently forgotten about him.

“It has not yet done so even though the petition to make good on its promise has reached 57,000 signatories,” he said, adding that it can be found at tinyurl.com/unclebersara.

Pointing to Guan Eng’s court cases, Najib said Iskandar Puteri’s MP was silent on his son’s corruption charges.

“He did not tell his son to resign or take a break while facing corruption charges as he always does with others,” he said in a lengthy post on his Facebook page.

Guan Eng, the former chief minister of Penang, was charged with two counts of misappropriation of 208.7 million ringgit in the sale of state land to two companies. He pleaded not guilty to the charges.

“Kit Siang was also silent when her son’s bungalow corruption trial was suspended in the middle of the day after her son’s lawyer was appointed attorney general.

“He did not say that this decision insulted the country’s legal system. So, Kit Siang is so full of integrity? “

Tommy Thomas, who was appointed attorney general during the Pakatan Harapan administration, had acted on behalf of Guan Eng in a matter before PH came to power.

Najib said he was later charged with killing Assistant District Attorney Kevin Morais, claiming the evidence was on a USB stick.

“When I asked for the pendrive, there was silence. He responded by saying that he never accused me of killing anyone, including Teoh Beng Hock, Altantuya Shaariibuu and Kevin, ”he said, referring to the three high-profile murder cases.

Najib said that when Lim was the leader of the opposition several decades ago, he had accused Mahathir, who was then prime minister, of causing Bank Negara’s 33 billion ringgit foreign exchange losses.

“But he was silent when Dr. Mahathir withdrew the police report submitted as a result of the findings of the Royal Commission of Inquiry on the investigation of the scandal. It was then classified as No More Action (NFA) last year (when PH was part of the federal government).

“No one was held accountable or prosecuted even though the country lost RM33 billion. But uncle (Lim) was fine as long as his son remained the finance minister of the Mahathir government, ”he added.

The latest from Lim, Najib said, was about Malaysia’s purchase of the Covid-19 vaccine, which he claimed was being bought at a price 20 times what it actually cost.

“After he was proven wrong, he again decided to remain silent. No apologies were offered at all, ”Najib said.
