Local man and foreign woman arrested for allegedly dumping dead baby near mosque

PETALING JAYA: A local man and a foreign woman have been arrested for dumping the body of a baby near a mosque on Sungai Way here.

Deputy Petaling Jaya OCPD Supt Ku Mashariman Ku Mahmood said the incident happened at 8.48pm on Sunday (November 22).

“A 32-year-old man, who is an imam of the mosque, found the body of a girl wrapped in plastic near one of the tires of his car, which was parked in front of the mosque.

Initial investigations revealed that a note was also placed with the body asking for the mosque’s help in organizing the baby’s funeral and burial.

“The note said that the person was disowned by the family because of the baby, saying that the person could not bear to see the baby’s body and added that there was no money to take him to the hospital,” Supt Ku Mashariman said.

He added that the baby was believed to be at least four months old.

“Based on information and controls from the mosque’s CCTV, a police team managed to locate and arrest a 25-year-old man and a 26-year-old foreign woman at a hotel along Jalan SS3 / 39”, he said, and added. that both suspects confessed to leaving the baby’s body outside the mosque.

Supt Ku Mashariman said both suspects have been detained for four days to help with investigations for disposing of the body of a child.
