Liverpool have been warned that they face another Timo Werner situation after Manchester United entered the market for Thiago.
Reds boss Jurgen Klopp was interested in a move for Werner, but the champions had to withdraw their interest in the striker at Easter when they realized he was priced at around £ 53 million.
The RB Leipzig striker finally signed for Chelsea, leaving Liverpool to look elsewhere to deepen their squad.
And the champions have been warned that a similar scenario looms regarding Thiago.
The Bayern Munich ace wants to leave the Bundesliga champions this summer, with claims that he is interested in playing for Klopp at Anfield.
Klopp has cooled the conversation and publicly Liverpool have been eager to distance themselves from transfer speculation.
Weekend Sun He stated that Manchester United is also interested in Thiago.
The Red Devils tried to land the Spanish star under Louis van Gaal, but are now back for the player, despite closing a deal for Donny van de Beek.
Van de Beek is set to sign for United imminently after missing international training on Monday to have a United doctor.
United, although it could “pair him with Thiago”, according to Daily express after Liverpool hit a roadblock in their bid to sign the Bayern star.
Inside Thiago’s track
Transfer expert Jan Aage-Fjortoft says Liverpool need to sell before they can buy, and United’s interest is genuine.
Fjortoft said ESPN: “Surprisingly, Thiago wanted to leave Bayern. Bayern thought they had it, there was a three-year contract, then Thiago wanted four, then Bayern said four and he said he needed to talk to his wife.
“He wants to play in the Premier League and it is important that he wants to play in the Premier League.
“He has never said that he wants to play for this club or that club.
“The rumor was that Liverpool had to sell before they could buy, and I think that’s one of the reasons this is slowing down.
“Manchester United are very interested in Thiago, that’s 100% true.
“They are in the Thiago market, and if you saw this week there was an interview with [the Bayern CEO], and he said I hope there is an offer this week.
“I think there will be some movement, and I am not 100% sure which club will make the first offer. I think this is open.
“Everyone thought it would be Liverpool because Klopp loved him, well, Klopp also loved Timo Werner, and he will play in blue next season.”
