Liverpool told Rubén Semedo the price Olympiakos was asking after a ‘transfer inquiry’ | Soccer Sport

Liverpool would have asked Olympiakos how much it would cost to sign Ruben Semedo. The controversial Portuguese international is said to be among several names considered by the Reds as they seek defensive reinforcements at the turn of the year.

Jurgen Klopp is expected to bring in a new center-back as he looks to navigate his injury crisis from behind.

In October, Virgil van Dijk was forced to undergo knee surgery to repair his ACL after Jordan Pickford’s blood tackle in the Merseyside derby.

Makeshift center back Fabinho was later sidelined with a hamstring injury before things got even worse for the Reds this week.

Joe Gomez injured a tendon in his knee during England training, which means Joel Matip is the only Liverpool center-back in shape right now.

When asked by a fan if Semedo was good, he replied: “Yes. But his character I don’t know if he fits with Klopp’s mentality. He had big legal problems in Spain.”

It would be a huge surprise if Klopp took a chance on Semedo, who has served a prison sentence after several crimes.

He was banned from visiting Spain for eight years earlier this summer due to several serious charges during his time in Villarreal and Huesca.

On the field, Semedo remains a great talent and has impressed in Europe since joining Olympiakos in 2019.
