But, unlike “Sick Boy” in the Edinburgh cult movie Trainspotting, it was a grueling workout that gave birth to his nickname, rather than the savage excesses of the Glaswegian star.

Scottish ace Robertson, 26, said: “I remember the first day that there were only six or seven of us because the boys were still in preseason.

“We had to do that lactate test, which the Germans love, where you have to run at your best.

“They installed poles all over the field and each pole has to be blown.

“It gets faster and faster and faster. It is similar to the sleep test, but it is much more difficult and faster.

“I remember running alongside Danny Ings and he was sick everywhere. I tried to contain it but I had to let it go and it was terrible. Day one.

Fortunately, the manager was not there and I thought I was getting away with it.

“They came back three days later and he called me sick man. I was gutted. “

Although he barely made the best first impression, the left-back played a leading role when Liverpool lifted the Champions League last season.

And with many good times to celebrate with Klopp, Robertson revealed what his German beer manager looks like.

Speaking to the That Peter Crouch podcast, Robbo added: “He says, ‘Everything you do, you do 100 percent, you play 100 percent, you train 100 percent, and you celebrate 100 percent.”

“When she throws parties, she throws parties with Klopp. What you see is what you get with it.

Liverpool surprised Barcelona 4-0 in last year’s Champions League semi-final on their way to lift a sixth European Cup.

After losing the first leg 3-0, the Reds beat Lionel Messi at Anfield on Barça in the comeback.

Robertson was seen tangled with the hair of Ballon d’Or, Messi winner from the start, six times, a decision he still regrets.

He said: “Fabinho and I were tracking him, we both ended up on the ground. I messed up her hair a little bit, she wasn’t too happy. It’s something I would never do again, that’s for sure.

“It is disrespectful to the best player who has played this game.”

“In the locker room before, I’ve never seen a locker room like this. We were so excited about the game and unfortunately it happened too early, right?

“I was on the ground, I was on the ground. I don’t know what happened to me! If I was thinking it wouldn’t have been done. I wasn’t thinking clearly. “

The Reds beat the Premier League team Tottenham 2-0 in the Madrid final, a far cry from when Robertson helped in the women’s lingerie department at M&S.

He added: “It was in the boxes at M&S. My colleagues got discounts at Percy Pigs, so they were delighted. He was only 17, 18.

“I really worked a couple shifts in women’s lingerie. They were understaffed and they threw me there. You just talk shit and I hope they buy it.”

Born in Glasgow, Robertson revealed that he would be willing to move to Celtic in the future.

He added: “I would love to retire at Liverpool, but you know how difficult it is to play at the highest level until you are 35, 36.

“But I would love to put on the Celtic top and go to Parkhead.”
