Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain has praised Liverpool for the show of faith that led to an extension of the contract shortly after recovering from a serious knee injury.
An apparently innocuous challenge during the early stages of a Champions League semi-final clash with Rome in April 2018 resulted in the Englishman breaking his ACL, rupturing his LCL, and damaging his medial ligament and hamstrings.
That meant surgery, an extensive rehab program, and more than a year on the sidelines of a player who had just started to show his best with a Reds jersey.
But his commitment to that grueling recovery period was rewarded in August 2019 when Liverpool offered a one-year contract that was quickly signed.
Reflecting on the writing in new terms, Oxlade-Chamberlain told the club’s official website: “It was another great time for me.

“It was really exciting for me, obviously, as a result of an injury; We talked for a while if that’s what we were going to do and coming to an agreement on that meant a lot to me.
“Being in a club that supported me during an injury like that, which for some may ruin or end their careers, commit to an extension and a contract, probably at a time when maybe it was a little risky or they had to trust and Trust me as an athlete and person, because after an injury like that, nobody really knows how you will come back, for the club to do that it meant the absolute world for me.
“I felt very privileged and honored to extend my time with an incredible soccer club and an incredible team. Definitely one of my favorite moments of the season. “
