Liverpool is going through a defensive crisis. The Reds’ injury list continues to grow and the list of potential targets continues to grow along with it. A January move seems inevitable, the question is who will arrive on New Years Day? Liverpool is reportedly targeting Ruben Semedo of Olympiakos in Greece.
Liverpool injury crisis
The Reds haven’t seen anything like this before and we probably won’t see anything like this again for some time.
This accumulation of injuries has been the stuff of nightmares.
Since the start of the season, Jürgen Klopp has lost 13 first-team players to injury at one point or another.
The center of defense has been the most affected area. Joel Matip has missed most of this season with a muscle problem.

While Virgil van Dijk was ruled out for the season with an anterior cruciate ligament tear, due to a reckless lunge by Jordan Pickford.
We have since lost Fabinho to a hamstring problem and Joe Gomez is out for most of the season with his own knee injury.
Liverpool points to Rubén Semedo
Greek medium Athena has claimed that Liverpool are chasing Olympiakos’ Ruben Semedo.
The Reds are believed to be weighing a January play for the 26-year-old Portuguese defender.
He has made 12 appearances in all competitions for the Greek team this season, his club is said to be asking £ 18 million for the defender.
Athena also claims Liverpool would offer Ruben Semedo a five-year contract.
What RTK has to say
We can’t pretend we know a lot about this boy, but for the money it doesn’t seem like a sensible target.
Given that Perr Schuurs hasn’t been touted as much more expensive to sign for Liverpool, Ruben Semedo would be a strange move.
Schuurs is being touted as a £ 27 million target, is six years younger than Semedo and has attracted attention from across Europe with his performances.
We cannot see much truth in Liverpool’s ties to Rubén Semedo.
