Here are the Liverpool night headlines for Tuesday 10th November.
Explanation of Melwood’s decision
Jurgen Klopp and the Liverpool players left Melwood for the last time on Monday, ending a 70-year stint on training ground.
And the ECHO spoke with Liverpool managing director Andy Hughes about leaving the club, the reasoning behind the decision and what the future looks like at the AXA Training Center in Kirkby.
“The truth is, as you well know, we have been talking about it for a very long period of time,” he said. “The main motivation was to bring the academy and the first team to the same place that we believe is absolutely critical.
“Just from a physical space standpoint as we continue to try to modernize, our goal is to have a world-class training facility and Melwood is simply too small now, so we absolutely had to move.”
Hughes also revealed the role played by Brendan Rodgers, Michael Edwards and a whole group of leadership, dating back to 2013.
“Obviously, it was a very important decision to move out of what is a really great facility,” he added. “We debated that and Brendan Rodgers was part of that, initially, we debated that and obviously with Jurgen and Alex Inglethorpe, the Academy director and Michael Edwards, the athletic director.
“As a collective leadership group, we came to the decision that we had to move, it was simply a question of when. Now is the time, it’s finally here. “

Clarke rejects Liverpool power claims
FA President Greg Clarke has rejected claims that Liverpool and Manchester United were attempting a “takeover” with Project Big Picture.
The Reds and United have proposed plans to provide the EFL with a £ 250 million payment, but attached a number of conditions, including increased voting power for themselves and other key Premier League teams.
The proposal was widely criticized and has since been withdrawn. But Clarke believes the move was not a takeover.
“I don’t think I would characterize it as a power grab,” he said on Tuesday morning, appearing before a select committee of the Department of Culture, Media and Sport to discuss the collapse of the plans and any future plans for English football in the wake of the coronavirus crisis.
“When you bring a group of people together to try to tackle the problems of English football that will get the support of the Premier League clubs, the EFL board, the Alliance board, you have to give things time to see where you are coming.
“You have to listen, learn and go through a process. By the time we got to the end of May, it was clear there was no deal to be done. That doesn’t mean there wasn’t a good job.
“There were some things that I didn’t like, such a concentration of power at the top of the Premier League. The discussion was how do we get 14 votes when most of those clubs would have been losers under the proposal.”
“We left and six months later we discovered that the discussions had continued and then there was a leak.
“I thought it was a bad time to make a proposal when we were trying to discuss the whole Covid crisis in football. But we deserved to hear all the ideas with due guarantees.”
