Some Liverpool fans have reacted to the news that Pep Guardiola has signed a new two-year contract with Manchester City.
The news was released this afternoon, with the Spaniard extending his stay at the Etihad Stadium.
City have been Liverpool’s biggest rival on the pitch during the Jurgen Klopp era, with the two clubs facing each other in races for the Premier League title.
Guardiola and Klopp have become two of the best foreign coaches to have worked in England, taking their respective clubs to a significant level and playing excellent football along the way.
Arguably there has been a feeling that Guardiola’s time at City could be slowly coming to an end, especially as he didn’t get over his welcome in either Barcelona or Bayern Munich.
However, this update suggests that he thinks he can build another great City team as they look to reclaim their Premier League title from Liverpool and aim to win a first Champions League crown.
For Klopp, it means that the fascinating rivalry with Guardiola continues, which means there will be more delicious competitions between the Reds and the Citizens in the future.
These Liverpool fans on Twitter have been voicing their views on the “big” news from their rivals, providing a mixed bag of views.

Bring it on, I say. City only hope to maintain their level if Pep stays. We want the challenge

Not happy with this news. The Man City team may not be as good now as it was a couple of years ago, but it is still very good and City with Pep is stronger than City without Pep. https://t.co/QOnSJC5rqk

Pep Guardiola extends contract in #MCFC it’s huge. Great for the Premier League to retain it too. You want the best coaches in England and there is no question that he fits into that group.
