Liverpool set a new record for the club in the Premier League and top flight after beating Crystal Palace on Saturday.
Jurgen Klopp’s team outplayed seven men by Roy Hodgson unanswered and outscored their closest rivals in the table in both points and goal difference after being three goals before kickoff.
The Reds not only secured first place for Christmas and annihilated the goals conceded by Aston Villa earlier in the season, but also set another record in club history.
The victory is the Reds’ biggest victory in Premier League history, as they surpassed a 7-1 home win against Southampton since January 1999.
The result is also Liverpool’s record-breaking away win in top flight history, with a 7-1 win at Derby County in 1991, the only other time they have recorded seven goals away from Anfield in the English top flight.
BT Sport host Jake Humphrey also pointed to another key stat shortly after full time: The result was the first time Liverpool had won by seven away goals in 106 years.
It’s the latest in line for several new milestones, as champions can’t help but set a high bar for themselves.
Last season, on the road to the title, they became the team that secured the championship before anyone else, with seven games to spare and with the biggest lead at the top of the table.

They also won the most home games in a season at 18 and the most wins overall in a season equaling Man City’s 32 of 17/18 and 18/19.
