Liverpool and Jurgen Klopp have another transfer priority in January, as well as a central

Gerard Houllier passed away at the age of 73. What are your memories of him and his legacy?

Gérard Houllier put the Reds back on the European map 30 years after he stood at the Kop as a fan. He lived in the city in his 20s and fully understood what it meant to be a Liverpool fan.

The great man leaves a lasting legacy that no one can question.

The Champions League victory in Istanbul was both his and Rafa’s. Of the 14 players who played for the Reds that night, Gérard nurtured and brought in 12 of them.

You will have to search for a long time to find someone with a bad word to say about him. A real great Anfield. RIP, Gérard.

The Champions League draw took place earlier this week. There are a lot of great narratives around RB Leipzig. Happy to get them?

It wasn’t Atlético de Madrid, so I was happy! I have always felt that if Liverpool play a European game against an equally offensive team, especially Jurgen Klopp, there will only be one winner.

It was fitting that after Gérard’s passing, the two clubs that played an important role in his life, and two clubs that he helped enormously, met in the main European competition.

I think we can have some confidence in the fact that Manchester United were able to beat them at Old Trafford early in the campaign.

Fulham seems to have spent an eternity. How frustrating was the tie? Does that make the next two games, Tottenham and Crystal Palace, even more important?

From the first kick you could tell that it wasn’t going to be our day and, if we’re honest with each other, a draw was a pretty good result for us.

Fulham looked like the most threatening team throughout the game and created more “great opportunities” than the Reds despite creating fewer starts during the game.

Come the end of the season, it could well be one of the games where players kick themselves for not showing up.

The opportunity to leave a two-point lead and the possibility of extending that to five was on the table, but it was not. Wednesday night will be huge for both parties and Liverpool’s record against low-block teams this season doesn’t fill me with much confidence.

Hopefully the 2,000 fans in attendance will make it feel like a full house and push the champions to the limit.

Curtis Jones has been so good lately. How impressive has it been for you and where are you now in the pecking order?

Jones has come by leaps and bounds over the past year and he deservedly finds himself having an important role to play this season.

As with most young players, their introduction to first-team life is often the result of injuries sustained by regular starters.

You’d think Thiago returns straight to the side when he regains full physical form in January, but Jones has certainly planted the seed in the manager’s mind that can see him think twice about dropping it in the New Year.

Liverpool FC essential news

Regardless of the decision Klopp makes, the Reds ‘No.17 has shown that he is more than ready to take on the responsibility that comes with being a regular player on the Premier League champions’ first team.

Tottenham will arrive at Anfield on Wednesday night. With Harry Kane and Heung-min Son in good shape, and Liverpool with injury problems, particularly at the rear, are you worried?

Let’s just say I won’t remove Kane and Son from my fantasy team!

With Mourinho, the Spurs have managed to find that additional advantage that they lacked under the leadership of Mauricio Pochettino and have been able to completely reinvent themselves in one more counterattack team.

The relationship Kane and Son have entered into this year has been sensational and it will take a shrewd defensive performance from the Reds on Wednesday to keep the pair calm.

However, let’s not forget the firepower that reigning champions possess. In their day, Salah, Firmino and Mane are just as unfair.

On paper, it looks like one of those games that could end 5-5 or 0-0. Whatever happens, you will be very close to calling.

How will José Mourinho play it? A typical Mourinho bus parking, or will it make it a little more?

I fully expect Spurs to prepare with 10 men behind the ball, absorb the pressure and hit Liverpool on the counter.

If there is any man in world football who knows how to upset the Anfield faithful when the Reds seek a league title, it is Mr. Mourinho.

I would be very surprised if they became enthusiastic and went after Liverpool from the beginning, but again we are talking about a José Mourinho team here. Nothing will surprise me anymore when it comes to the ‘special’.

The January transfer window is getting closer and closer. What does Liverpool need to do in terms of signings, if at all?

I’d be more surprised if Liverpool didn’t add another body or two in January, especially considering the mountain of injuries the club currently has.

Another center back is a must and perhaps a versatile forward to add more competition to the front line.

Fingers crossed Diogo Jota’s injury isn’t as bad as initially feared, but even after his return it would be nice to have a few more attacking options available from the bench.
