The legendary singer SP Balasubramaniam passed away leaving the entire nation in shock and has become the biggest victim of the coronavirus in the country. The 74-year-old man was admitted to MGM Hospital in Choolaimedu Chennai on August 5 and had only mild symptoms for nearly ten days.
However, the hospital management broke the shocking news on August 14 that, starting on the 13th night, SPB’s condition suddenly deteriorated and he was transferred to the intensive care ward and placed on life support. Due to the efforts of the doctors and the prayers of millions started by SPB’s close friend, Bharathiraja, his condition saw a marked improvement and the sedatives were removed and he also responded well to physical therapy.
However, shocking news came on September 24 that SPB’s condition suddenly deteriorated and he was put back on full life support in extremely critical condition. Now it has just been announced that SPB took its last breath at 1.04pm today (September 25). His departure to the heavenly abode has left a great void in the entertainment industry. He is survived by his wife Savithri, daughter Pallavi and son SPB Charan.
Balu, as his friends affectionately called him, was born in Nellore in Andhra Pradesh and later moved to Madras in the late 1960s. Although he had sung a few songs for MS Viswanathan, it was “Aayiram Nilave Vaa” for MGR on ‘Adimaipenn’ and “Iyarkai Ennum Idhayakani ‘for Gemini Ganesan on’ Shanti Nilayam ‘, both released in 1969, which brought him fame when Balu ruled. as the number one male singer for the next fifty years singing for all the major superstars including Sivaji Ganesan, Rajinikanth, Kamal Haasan, Vishnuvardhan, Chiranjeevi and spanning to the current era of Ajith and Vijay.

From MSV to Ghibran there is no music director who has lost his magic.
