SEPANG: Langkawi International Airport (LGK) has been recognized as one of the seven best airports in the world and this year will join the General Director of Airports Council International (ACI) Panel of Excellence.
LGK has been recognized by ACI for consistently providing excellent customer services and facilities, based on passenger feedback surveys conducted by the council.
In a statement, Malaysia Airports Holdings Bhd Group Chief Executive Mohd Shukrie Mohd Salleh said the company was honored to be recognized by ACI, the global voice of the aviation industry.
“We hope the public will regain confidence in air travel as we continuously implement the highest level of security measures at the airport and ensure that the passenger experience is not compromised,” he said.
LGK consistently earned high marks for customer service and won ACI awards for Best Small Airport by Region and Best Airport by Size (two million to five million passengers per year).
It has been included in the Director General’s Table of Excellence based on its record of multiple awards for quality of airport service over a five-year period.
Mohd Shukrie described the recognition as a “testament to our commitment and efforts to continually raise the bar of service and quality standards.”
LGK was updated in 2018 to serve four million passengers a year. Last year it registered 2.9 million passenger movements, 8% more than in 2018.
ACI will announce the airport’s achievement during Airport Service Quality Customer Experience Week, scheduled for October 26.
