PETALING JAYA: Former Human Resources Minister M. Kula Segaran today filed a police complaint against the “dirty police” cartel and alleged corrupt practices in the police force.
The Ipoh Barat MP believed that the existence of a cartel and alleged corrupt practices in the force, recently revealed by Inspector General of Police Abdul Hamid Bador, could give a negative impression of the law enforcement institution.
“In my opinion, the PDRM should be a body free from external influences and monetary policies so that public confidence is not eroded.
“I filed a police report to urge the authorities to take immediate action against the cartel,” he said in a statement after filing the report at Ipoh police headquarters.
In addition to wanting the police to investigate the cartel, the vice president of the DAP called for the creation of an independent committee to investigate the matter.
He said the findings of the committee’s investigation should be made public to ensure transparency.
Recently, Hamid revealed that a group of younger police officers had formed a cartel to dominate the force.
He said the cartel would ensure that its collaborators were promoted so that they could dominate the force and the police hierarchy in the future, making it easier for them to do their “dirty work.”
