Kota Setar and Tawau Prison under EMCO Administration

PETALING JAYA: The government has decided to place Kota Setar and Tawau Prison under the Enhanced Movement Control Administrative Order (EMCO) from September 11 to 25.

Chief Minister (Defense) Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob said that the standard operating procedure (SOP) for Kota Setar involving 28 mukim will be prohibited from entering and leaving these areas, and roadblocks will be established.

“Employers are encouraged to allow employees living in Kota Setar to work from home. Religious places such as mosques and other places of worship are ordered to close for the entire duration, ”he said today at a press conference.

He also said that all sports, recreational and social and cultural activities are ordered to stop during this period, as well as the closure of all educational institutions.

“Only essential services business premises, such as restaurants and warungs, gas stations, convenience stores, pharmacies, clinics and hospitals are allowed to operate,” he said.

Regarding the hours of operation, Ismail Sabri said that gas stations, convenience stores, restaurants and places to eat can only operate from 8 am to 8 pm, and that restaurants and restaurants only allow to operate to go.

“Clinics and hospitals can operate 24 hours a day, while the daily markets can only operate from 6 am to 2 pm. Only the head of the family can go out to buy basic necessities ”, he said.

He also said that vehicles carrying essential items can enter as long as they receive permission from the police to do so.

“The ferry service in Kuala Kedah is also suspended during this period, and the public is encouraged to use the ferry service in Kuala Perlis,” he said.

Meanwhile, for the administrative EMCO in Tawau, it is not allowed to enter and leave the prison, even for visitors and relatives of prisoners.

Ismail Sabri also said that the government has decided to extend the administrative EMCO for Amanjaya, Kedah for another three days until September 13 to ensure that all those involved are examined by health officials.
