Kota Kinabalu among Sabah locations under CMCO

PETALING JAYA: Several areas of Sabah, including Kota Kinabalu, Penampang and Putatan, will be placed under conditional movement control order starting at midnight tonight.

Chief Minister (Defense) Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob (pix) said that movements to and from these areas would not be allowed, but essential services would.

He said that the Ministry of Industry and International Trade will issue a list of services that are required and allowed in the affected areas.

New measures under the order would include shutting down non-essential services and restricting operations of food outlets from 6 am to 6 pm. E-mail and food delivery services will be allowed from 6:00 a.m. M. At 8:00 p. M.

In a related matter, Ismail Sabri said a total of 979 people were arrested yesterday for violating the recovery movement’s control order.

Thirty-two of them were arrested, three were released on bail, and the remaining 944 received compounds.

The crimes committed include not wearing face masks or practicing social distancing, being condescending in nightclubs and pubs, and refusing to bypass detection.

Business owners were also arrested for operating without a license, operating beyond the permitted hours, and failing to provide registration equipment for tracking contracts.

It said that under Ops Benteng, 48 illegal immigrants, two ship captains and four smugglers were arrested.
