PETALING JAYA: Kossan Rubber Industries has become the latest glove manufacturer to register Covid-19 cases among its workers.

A spokesperson told the FMT that “there have been some cases” as a result of workplace evaluations that began last week, but that he was not willing to provide the exact number of workers who tested positive.

“We cannot confirm anything until the Ministry of Health announces it.

“The cases occurred in the Klang area and will not affect all of our factories.”

The spokesperson said the screenings were continuing.

Glove maker Hartalega had announced 35 cases of Covid-19 among its workers last week.

Previously, Top Glove had to fight to contain a growing number of cases after detecting infections among its workers last month.

Top Glove’s factories in Meru were the center of the Teratai group, the largest in the country.

The Teratai group registered nine new cases today. There have been 5,540 cases linked to the group, most of which are Top Glove workers.

Top Glove confirmed yesterday that one of its employees had died due to Covid-19, the first such death that the company is aware of.
