PETALING JAYA: Another glove maker, Kossan Rubber Industries, announced today that 990 cases of Covid-19 have been detected at one of its plants in Klang since intensive screening began on December 4.

The company is currently conducting a company-wide assessment, targeting more than 8,000 employees across its nine plants and three corporate offices.

In a statement, the company said it was fully cooperating with the Health Ministry and municipalities to contain the pandemic.

He said employees at the affected plant were under quarantine and the plant would be closed until December 30.

The company assured the public that it took the pandemic and public health very seriously.

Glove manufacturers have been the source of numerous Covid-19 clusters since the start of the pandemic.

Earlier this month, Hartalega announced that 35 cases of Covid-19 had been detected among its workers.

The factories belonging to Top Glove, the world’s largest glove manufacturer, in Meru were the center of the Teratai cluster, the largest in the country. There have been 5,540 cases linked to the group, most of which are Top Glove workers.

Top Glove confirmed last week that one of its employees had died due to Covid-19.
