KUALA LUMPUR: Kossan Rubber Industries Bhd has detected an additional 563 positive COVID-19 cases as of December 21, and the affected plant will remain closed until December 30.
In a filing with Bursa Malaysia today, the rubber glove maker said another 7,000 employees were screened for COVID-19 following its statement on Dec. 16 that 427 positive cases had been detected at one of its plant facilities. .
The company had conducted a new employee review at the affected plant facility, it said.
“As of subsequent examination, 563 additional positive cases were detected as of December 21, 2020.
“Due to ongoing efforts to mitigate, contain and prevent the widespread pandemic, the facilities of the affected plant will remain closed until December 30, 2020,” it said.
Kossan said he will continue to monitor the situation closely and continue the reassessment exercise on an ongoing basis.
“We take the pandemic and public health situation seriously and will ensure the safety and health of all stakeholders,” he said. – Bernama
