GEORGE TOWN: The dumb Korean pastor who was charged with two counts of outraging the modesty of two men in Butterworth two weeks ago faces a similar charge in Magistrates Court here.

However, the charge was not read to Judge Rosnee Mohd Radzuan, as an international sign language interpreter was not available.

Jee Jon-Hun, 54, was charged with using criminal force against a 40-year-old victim by touching his private parts, hugging him, kissing him on the cheek and lips with the intention of outraging his modesty in a house in Gelugor in 2000.

The charge under Section 354 of the Penal Code provides for a prison term of up to 10 years, a fine, flogging, or both.

Deputy Prosecutor Muhammad Shahrezal Mohd Shukri suggested to the court not to allow bail as the charges were not read.

However, attorney G. Shanmugam said the defendants had been charged with similar crimes and had been free on bail since December 18.

Rosnee posted a bond of RM6,000 with two Malaysian bonds. Jee posted bail.

He also ordered Jee to report to the nearest police station on the 29th of each month until the next court date and not to harass the victim or witnesses in the case.

She set Feb. 9 next year for the case to be brought up and the charges read to Jee in international sign language through an interpreter.

The pastor was reportedly detained on suspicion of sexually abusing disabled people.

He allegedly sexually abused five disabled men, aged between 27 and 40, and members of a deaf association.
