Police said on Tuesday (November 3) that they will not conduct an autopsy to determine the cause of death of comedian Park Ji-sun at the request of her family.
Seoul Mapo Police Station said: “No dirty act is suspected as there were no signs of trespassing and what is presumed to be a suicide note was found.”
Police said they will continue to investigate the exact cause of death.
On Monday (November 2), police discovered the 35-year-old comedian and her mother dead around 1:44 p.m. at Park’s residence in Seoul’s Mapo district after receiving a report from her father that he was unable to contact none of them.
He was reportedly in treatment for a skin condition and had been living with his mother.
The note, which appeared to have been written by her mother, indicated that Park had been suffering from the disease and that she could not let her suffer alone.
An altar in memory of the two was installed at the Mokdong Hospital of Ewha Women’s University in Seoul.
Hailing from Incheon, a port city west of Seoul, Park was considered a versatile comedian who skillfully hosted K-pop performances and press calls for television shows.
After a brief stint as an actor, the Korean University alumnus made his comedian debut in 2007 after auditioning on KBS broadcaster. She proved to be a great rookie, winning an award for new comedians in the first year of her debut.
Park won several other awards later in her career, cementing her reputation as a talented and popular comedian in South Korea. – The Korea Herald / Asia News Network
