BARCELONA manager Ronald Koeman has opened the door for Ousmane Dembele to join Manchester United.

The 23-year-old French forward has become an alternative to transfer target Jadon Sancho.

Dembélé was an unused substitute in Barça’s 1-1 draw against Sevilla last night after also watching from the stands his entire 3-0 victory over Celta de Vigo.

And Nou Camp manager Koeman said he had no firm plans for the former Borussia Dortmund star to remain in Spain.

The former Everton boss admitted he did not know what will happen to the European deadline for transfers that starts tonight.

Koeman said, “What is true in the world? I don’t know.

“At the moment he is a Barcelona player. There is still one day left for entries and exits. We will see.”

Explaining why the £ 138 million firm didn’t play, Koeman added: “I opted for [Francisco] Trincao, Pedri and [Miralem] Pjanic [off the bench].

“We needed more control and that’s why I made these changes.”

Koeman, when asked about Dembélé’s departure, previously said: “His future depends on what he thinks. I have not told him about his future. We’ll see.”

Sancho, whom Dortmund insists will remain with them, is in England and may complete a trade to United, who looks set to complete deals for Edinson Cavani and Alex Telles, today.

The 20-year-old England winger arrived for international service with the Three Lions, but is in trouble for breaking coronavirus rules at Chelsea star Tammy Abraham’s surprise birthday party.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer desperately needs to increase his failed line of attack.

Defensive disasters and a toothless attack were brutally exposed in a 6-1 loss to the Spurs yesterday.

Reports yesterday claimed that United can seal the deal with Dembélé for around £ 65 million if offered a long-term contract.

And Dembélé is believed to be willing to move to England after phone calls from his partner Paul Pogba encouraging him that it is the place to be.
