Liverpool have their biggest game of the season tomorrow night.
Manchester City welcome Jurgen Klopp’s side to Eastlands and although it is early, the Premier League champions could leave a big score when it comes to the title.
That being said, City are favorites because despite Liverpool being in top form, they will be without Virgil van Dijk after the influential Dutch defender was ruled out for the remainder of the season.
But Klopp could have hinted that another major center-back will be available again.
Liverpool have had to settle for players like Nat Phillips and Rhys Williams in central defense in recent weeks as Fabinho and Joel Matip are also injured.
But the German chief has scoffed at a possible return of Matip in the Etihad.
He said, in his pre-game press conference on Friday: “Joel is back and has had 8/7/9 days of training, which helps a lot – after the game there are also another 14 days of training. We’ll see what we’ll do. “
That last sentence is intriguing as it indicates that the Liverpool manager could well bring him back to the first eleven.
Matip, who started a Champions League final for the Anfield team, is not as important as Van Dijk, but he has a lot of experience in big games compared to Phillips and Williams and, if available, he is a huge boost.
