KUALA LUMPUR (Bernama): Yang di-Pertuan Agong Al-Sultan Abdullah Ri’ayatuddin Al-Mustafa Billah Shah says he hopes that with all the uncertainties affecting the nation’s workforce due to the Covid-19 pandemic, the people realize the fact that the world is now operating under a “new normal”.

The Comptroller of the Royal House for Istana Negara Datuk Ahmad Fadil Shamsuddin said in conjunction with the Labor Day theme “Workers and the challenge of the new normal culture”, His Majesty extended his sincere thanks to all workers and felt the importance of this day was more pronounced. due to the current Covid-19 pandemic that affects the country and the rest of the world.

“Her Majesty urges that this crisis be a catalyst for the Malays to work harder to ensure the progress of the country and its people. Her Majesty is pleased and proud of our workers and understands that this year has proved to be a challenge.”

“Her Majesty appreciates the sacrifice and effort made by all workers, especially our leaders; from doctors and nurses, police and army personnel, to public servants and groups working diligently to try to combat this pandemic and put to the nation first.

“It is in this spirit of sacrifice that we celebrate Labor Day 2020,” he said in a statement on Friday (May 1).

Fadil said that Al-Sultan Abdullah recognized that ensuring that workers receive support was crucial, as the country seeks to return to normalcy because the recovery and development of this country is in the hands of the workers.

He added that His Majesty welcomed the efforts of the government led by Prime Minister Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin, in providing assistance to individuals and various organizations, particularly those negatively affected by the pandemic and the subsequent implementation of the control order. of movement (MCO).

Fadil said the King has great respect for the resilience of Malaysian workers and encourages employers to play their role in providing support and helping their employees as the country tries to mitigate the effects of the pandemic on the economy and people’s well-being.
