Kiandee: About 60% of companies with AP to import meat are owned by bumiputra

KUALA LANGAT (Bernama): About 60% of approved permit holders (AP) involved in meat import activities are bumiputra companies, said Agriculture and Food Industries Minister Datuk Seri, Dr. Ronald Kiandee.

He said that Ramly Food Processing Sdn Bhd and Darabif Meat Company are among the holders of AP bumiputra, adding that these companies are capable of importing large quantities of meat.

“As for the amount (of imported meat), it depends on the capacity of the company. These two companies can import meat in large quantities and can compete with companies that do not belong to the bumiputra,” he told reporters after a day of job. He was commenting on claims made recently by the media by former Deputy Minister of Agriculture and Agricultural Industry, Datuk Seri Tajuddin Abdul Rahman, that only 10 percent of AP’s headlines for importing meat are bumiputra companies.

Commenting on the AP headlines blacklisted for violating the conditions, Kiandee said the Ministry of Agriculture and Food Industries was still awaiting the results of the investigation from the relevant agencies.

“We are still awaiting the results of the investigation. The case involving this AP meat is being investigated by various agencies, including the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission, the Royal Malaysian Police, the Royal Malaysian Customs and the Ministry of Domestic Trade and Consumer Affairs. Issues.

“If there is a violation of AP conditions, the Ministry will take severe measures,” he said.

Recently, it was reported that the Ministry was willing to revoke the AP from the companies if they were found to be involved in the frozen meat distribution cartel without a halal certificate and will not tolerate any member of its staff being involved in the matter. – Bernama
