PETALING JAYA: The Cabinet has found that the statements made by the two deputy ministers on Veveonah Mosibin “were not correct and were not timely” regarding the issue of Veveonah Mosibin and Internet accessibility, says Khairy Jamaluddin.

The Minister of Science, Technology and Innovation said that the Cabinet discussed the Veveonah issue on Wednesday morning (September 9).

The Cabinet notes that the statements of the two vice ministers were not correct and were not timely and agrees that the real problem is Internet connectivity and basic infrastructure, particularly in rural areas.

“The government will do everything possible to fix it,” he said on his Twitter account on Wednesday (September 9).

On September 3, Vice Minister of Communications and Multimedia Datuk Zahidi Zainul Abidin in Dewan Negara accused the Pitas native of lying about her exams to gain fame as a YouTuber.

Veveonah denied this and posted his exam schedule online June 9-12 on Twitter.

Zahidi apologized for his mistake and said he would rectify his comment.

However, on September 7, Zahidi said that he had been given incorrect information by Kudat MP Datuk Abdul Rahim Bakri, who received the information from a “teacher”.

Rahim also disputed Veveonah in a Facebook post on Monday (September 7), continuing the line that he had done it for YouTube fame.

However, the Chairman of the Board of Directors of Universiti Malaysia Sabah, Datuk Masidi Manjun, has confirmed that Veveonah was taking his university exams online when his viral video was posted.
