Khairuddin should also ask Najib, Zahid to clear their names first, says Guan Eng.

Lim Guan Eng tells Khairuddin Aman Razali that many ministers in other countries have resigned for similar Covid-19 crimes.

PETALING JAYA: DAP Secretary General Lim Guan Eng responded to the Minister of Plantation and Commodity Industries Mohd Khairuddin Aman Razali for questioning his moral authority to criticize others when he has yet to clear his name of various criminal charges.

Yesterday, Khairuddin said that Lim’s criticism of him for violating the Covid-19 quarantine order was made to divert attention from the many charges Lim faces for corruption and money laundering.

In his statement today, Lim said that if Khairuddin felt he had no moral authority to criticize others because of their criminal charges, Khairuddin should also question the right of former Prime Minister Najib Razak and Umno President Ahmad Zahid Hamidi to comment on national issues.

This, Lim said, was because they too had been indicted by the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC), and Najib was convicted.

Instead, Khairuddin has been ashamed to continue supporting these two Umno leaders in Muafakat Nasional.

“As a leader, Khairuddin must lead by example and not commit crimes that are immoral and contrary to the law. That is why many ministers in other countries have resigned for similar Covid-19 crimes. “

He added that there was a double standard when a minister was only fined 1,000 ringgit for his crime, while ordinary citizens were fined 8,000 ringgit or imprisoned.

Khairuddin received criticism from all sectors for skipping the quarantine and has since apologized and promised four months of salary to the Covid-19 relief fund.

The Health Ministry has sanctioned him with a fine of RM 1,000, saying it was the maximum it could impose. It was also reported that the police were investigating the matter.
