1. Two PKR assembly members in Kedah have resigned from their party, paving the way for Perikatan Nasional to take power after months of ambiguity. Assemblyman Jenari from PAS, Muhamad Sanusi Md Nor, is said to be the favorite to be the new kissing menteri.
2. Kedah PKR said it would seek RM10 million in compensation from each of the two assemblymen, Dr. Robert Ling Kui Ee (right in the photo above) and Azman Nasrudin (on the left), according to an agreement they signed before being presented as electoral candidates.
3. A leaked audio recording of a meeting of the Bersatu Supreme Council on February 23 allegedly reveals that Bersatu President Muhyiddin Yassin had told the council to entrust the president, Dr. Mahathir Mohamad, the decision whether to the party should leave Pakatan Harapan or not.
4. Six leaders and members of Bersatu have urged the party’s disciplinary board to act against those who called for an abortive Supreme Council meeting to be held on May 11, in the absence of its President Mahathir and Vice President Mukhriz Mahathir.
5. The President of the Perak State Assembly, Ngeh Khoo Ham, resigned after the inauguration of Perikatan Nasional, but only after giving a long speech amid pressure, will he leave his post immediately.
6. As the courts resume normal operations starting today, dates were set for hearings against Kinabatangan MP Bung Moktar Radin tomorrow May 14 and the 1MDB trial of Pekan MP Najib Abdul Razak , on May 19. Next week a date will be decided for the president of Umno. Ahmad Zahid Hamidi’s corruption trial.
7. The Minister of Health, Dr. Adham Baba, has demanded RM30 million in damages and an apology from the Center to Combat Corruption and Chronism (C4) for allegedly defaming him.
8. Defense Minister Ismail Sabri Yaakob said that home-based barber services are prohibited during the movement control order period, after media reports from VIPs participating in such services, with offers of up to RM1,000 for a haircut.
9. Malaysia recorded just 16 new cases of Covid-19 yesterday, which is the lowest in two months despite increased testing. The Ministry of Health encourages companies to evaluate their employees, although it is not mandatory.
10. The World Health Organization said it has seen “potentially positive data” about some of the possible treatments for Covid-19 that are being tested.
