‘Karma’ – Liverpool fans send message to Manchester United after Demba Ba’s goal

[ad_1]

Liverpool fans enjoyed a bit of “karma” when Manchester United suffered a surprising defeat in the Champions League on Wednesday night.

United lost 2-1 to Istanbul Basaksehir in Turkey, and there was a familiar name on the score sheet.

Liverpool faithful can still shudder at the mention of Demba Ba, whose goal for Chelsea ended their challenge for the Premier League title in 2014.

Steven Gerrard’s infamous slip allowed former Newcastle United player Ba to find the net as the Reds fell in a 2-0 loss and ultimately finished as runners-up to Manchester City.

This moment led to incessant ridicule from rival supporters, United in particular.

So the tables turned when Ba, now 35, remarkably encountered a clear run on goal from inside his own half in just the 12th minute of the Group H encounter with Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s men.

Edin Visca doubled the home side’s lead and while Anthony Martial cut the deficit before the break, it was not enough to save United.

Here’s what some Liverpool fans were saying about Ba’s goal on Twitter …

@ish__intl: Karma for all the years Man U fans laughed at Gerrard’s slip #DembaBa #YNWA #LFC

@LFC_Hughesy: And the fact that Demba Ba scored after “that” goal a few years ago when they reveled in our deficiencies at #LFC makes it even more fun!

@AnfieldLexus: It hurts when Demba Ba makes his way into goal and slides under the goalkeeper, doesn’t it? #LFC #MUFC

@covfelfc: A bit of PTSD seeing Demba Ba running at United. Worth it. #LFC #MUFC

@MayankAdhye: Martin Skrtel and Demba Ba have teamed up for Best Man Together, one rejection from #LFC and the other rejection from #CFC.
