KUALA LUMPUR (Dec 30): K-One Technology Bhd (K-One) wholly owned subsidiary, K-One MediTech Sdn Bhd, has received approval from the Malaysian Medical Device Authority (MDA) to manufacture and supply five additional variants of nasal swabs for use in testing for Covid-19.
In a filing with Bursa Malaysia today, K-One said this is in addition to an earlier approval it had obtained regarding its specific nasal swab, which was granted by the MDA on September 3, 2020.
“With the spectrum of approved nasal swabs, the company is able to meet the diverse needs of children and adults who require different head diameters, applicator length and cut-off point,” he said.
He said the approval is timely, as the government has made it mandatory for all foreign workers to be tested for Covid-19 as of January 1, 2021, which would increase the demand for nasal swabs.
The company added that it is prepared to meet the increased demand and will work with local distributors to intensify marketing activities to sell to public and private hospitals, as well as test laboratories, in addition to reaching specific foreign markets that have a high Nasal demand potential. and oral swabs due to the increase in Covid-19 infections.
