Jurgen Klopp’s reaction on the touchline to Diogo Jota’s second goal in Liverpool against Atalanta

Jurgen Klopp’s reaction to Diogo Jota’s second goal was priceless after the Portuguese striker rampaged for Liverpool.

The Reds thrashed Atalanta 5-0 in Italy after a hat-trick by Jota and goals by Sadio Mane and Mohamed Salah.

The former Wolves star took over Roberto Firmino’s position on the team after a brilliant start to the season.

And he made a case for being a regular starter at Anfield after a special showing.

All of Jota’s goals were of class, but perhaps the best of all was the second.

From an unlikely angle, he hit home plate after 30 minutes to extend Liverpool’s lead and Klopp was seen yelling, “What a finale, Diogo!”

Jurgen Klopp enjoyed the goals of Diogo Jota

The German’s decision to leave Firmino has been vindicated and Jota has now scored more Liverpool goals for the Reds than his rival striker in 2020.

Former Liverpool defender Stephen Warnock told BBC Radio 5Live that he does not see Firmino returning to the team.

He said: “Change the style of play.

“You see the rhythm that Jota has. Jota brings more frankness, while Firmino is more intelligent.

“Fans have criticized that he has slowed down the attacks too much.

Liverpool rioted against Atalanta

“They improve when Jota comes into the team right now. He’s been awesome, they’ve called him a pressing monster.”

“Show your confidence. You’ve seen this as a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity.

“He believes that he can take Liverpool to the next level and also has the confidence of the players around him. Firmino will play at the weekend, but he gives the option and a strong option.”

Klopp now has a decision to make on whether Jota keeps his spot, but Warnock thinks it’s a no-brainer.

“Jota is hot right now. It is very, very difficult to shut him out against Manchester City.”

“It seems inevitable that they are his three forwards, but you never know with Jurgen Klopp.”
