Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp is concerned that Thiago Alcántara will face a period on the sidelines after Richarlison’s terrible tackle during the 2-2 draw against Everton.
The Toffees man slipped dangerously over the Spanish midfielder at the end and was giving his marching orders as a result.
Thiago seemed fine and managed to finish the game smoothly.
But speaking to BT Sport full time, Klopp suggested he might have a worse injury than feared.
“Richarlison’s red card, it’s not just a red card for Everton, it’s also a huge foul on Thiago,” Klopp said.
“Thiago has a good shot there, now he has ice, we don’t know what he has, it doesn’t look good, to be honest.”
Liverpool could now be facing something of an injury crisis after defender Virgil van Dijk had to leave within ten minutes after Everton goalkeeper Jordan Pickford collided with him.
There was some bewilderment that Pickford was not sent off for the incident, and Liverpool were also affected when what looked like a last-minute winner from Jordan Henderson was ruled offside.
Reacting to both decisions, Klopp added: “With Virgil van Dijk injured, that’s pretty early in the game.
“I didn’t see it back, but it took a while, so obviously it wasn’t too big, the offside. Then Pickford kicks it all the way.
“I didn’t see him again, so maybe you can say more about this.
“The only decision I saw back was now, just briefly in the locker room, Henderson’s goal and Sadio’s pass, and I didn’t see offside, sorry.
“Maybe someone can explain it to me because the image I saw was not offside.
“But it was off the game because someone decided it was.”
