Jurgen Klopp admits that Liverpool have yet to know the severity of Joel Matip’s ankle injury.
And the Reds boss says the central defender will be made to see a specialist to determine the extent of the damage.
Matip was withdrawn midway through Thursday’s 3-1 win at Tottenham after sustaining ligament damage in North London.
The news was yet another blow for Klopp, who has been plagued by injuries at center-back all season, including a muscle complaint from Fabinho that has kept him out of the last two games.
Klopp said Liverpool still don’t know the full picture regarding how long Matip will be out of the game, as they closed a £ 2 million deal for Preston North End defender Ben Davies on Sunday.
Davies will undergo a medical exam Monday as the Reds aim to add much-needed coverage to a depleted area of their squad.
“With Joel we don’t have the final diagnosis,” Klopp said.
“Specialists should take a look and things like that until we know exactly.
“And about the transfer of things, we don’t say anything, so nothing to say about it until something is done, if something is done.
Klopp also praised “world-class” Mohamed Salah after his second-half double led to 21 goals on the season at Anfield.
The Egypt star opened the scoring in the second with a sublime shot before doubling his score and Liverpool’s with an impressive counterattack.
Gini Wijnaldum made it 3-0 before Craig Dawson got a late consolation.
Salah’s streak ended a six-game drought and Klopp was delighted with the contributions of the Premier League’s 15-goal top scorer.
“He actually scored a goal against Tottenham,” Klopp said. “It didn’t count, I know, but it was a brilliant ‘goal’.
“It had nothing to do with him that he didn’t count. It was a hand in the preparation, but the goal was brilliant.
“And even that was certainly a good sign for him that a couple of things are clicking again.
“We played a super game tonight. He was really into the game, flexible, all these kinds of things.
“He kept the ball, his passing was good and his control of the ball was very good.
“And in the end, his first goal was just a super smart goal. I didn’t see him back, but from my perspective, (goalkeeper) Fabianski couldn’t see the ball, so he threw it into the far corner. Super smart.
“The second goal, what a counterattack. Two passes until Mo got the ball and it was spectacular from Shaq (Xherdan Shaqiri).
“Mo’s first touch was outstanding, world-class and then a good finish. So he had a great result, great goals.
“I’m not surprised. I work with him every day and he will never stop having a huge desire to score goals.”
“He is a world-class player, there is no doubt about that.
“As I said in the last few weeks, we don’t score that many and the only thing you can do is try again and make good decisions.

“Tonight we didn’t force it. The first goal was a very smart goal. In the last few weeks we would have tried to force it and maybe have a shot in the legs or whatever.
“It was a first-class goal.”
