Jurgen Klopp downplays Mohamed Salah departure rumors

Jurgen Klopp has claimed that Mohamed Salah is in a “good time” amid allegations of riots at Anfield, with the Liverpool manager declining to comment on the matter.

Salah, 28, recently underwent an interview with the Spanish publication AS in which he commented on the possibility of leaving Liverpool for Real Madrid or Barcelona.

In the following days, speculation about Salah’s future with the English champions has intensified and there have been claims that he could leave the club at the end of the season.

On a more positive note, there have also been reports that Liverpool will be looking to extend Salah’s current contract with the club that expires in 2023.

Speaking during his press conference ahead of Liverpool’s upcoming clash with West Brom on Sunday, Klopp declined to give credit to Salah’s future instead choosing to focus on how happy the Egyptian international is at Anfield.

“We never talk about contracts, with the press anyway, so why should we start now?” Klopp said.

“Mo is in a good mood and in a moment, and in great shape and that’s the most important thing to me.

“If you had been training today, you would have seen him laugh a lot. He enjoyed the shoot so that’s good too.

“The rest is good for you to write down, but internally, nothing really [to say]. “

What RTK has to say

The main question here is whether Salah would really consider leaving Liverpool.

Indeed, it has previously been entertained that Barcelona and Real Madrid are considered the pinnacle for any aspiring professional, but such notions would be considered inaccurate in today’s landscape.

Both Spanish giants are currently in the midst of major modifications and are currently well outside the standard for players like Bayern Munich and Liverpool.

That said, why would a serial winner like Salah tolerate stepping up the soccer ladder?

He is about to break a series of existing club records in Liverpool, and the team itself has never looked stronger.

He has a legacy at Anfield, and one that can be further strengthened if he decides to stay.

To date, Salah has made 173 appearances for the Reds in all competitions and has scored 110 goals. They have won the Premier League, the Champions League, the UEFA Super Cup and, a year ago, on Monday, the Club World Cup.

At 28, Salah is in his prime and represents the world champions under the title of FIFA Best Coach of the Year two years in a row.

There is only one place where Salah’s future fits best. And it is not even close to Real Madrid or Barcelona.
