Josh, from the popular YouTube channel “Korean Englishman”, has apologized for the recent controversy about celebrating his wife’s birthday during the self-quarantine period.
On October 13, Josh posted a letter of apology to his YouTube channel community that read: “I want to apologize for causing disappointment, concern, and discomfort to many of you with the video uploaded to Gabie’s channel last Saturday. I’m sorry this apology comes so late. “
He went on to say: “I am very sorry to the countless people who have made so many sacrifices to keep us safe, and I am sorry to all of you who also sacrifice on a daily basis to fight this pandemic. I am still reflecting on the gravity of my actions with the deepest regret.“
He wrote, “While I was in quarantine after arriving in Korea, I invited some of Gabie’s friends to drop the gifts at the door and we neglected the quarantine rules while greeting those friends. This was wrong and irresponsible. “
Previously, GabieKook returned to Korea but posted a video on October 10 showing his birthday celebration. In the video, GabieKook’s acquaintances are seen visiting the YouTuber while they are outside the door.
The YouTuber received criticism for breaking quarantine guidelines during the two-week self-quarantine. Many netizens wondered if having their acquaintances come to a birthday celebration violates the rules, even if they stayed outside the house.
Josh concluded his apology by saying, “Realizing the fact that I have committed the incredible efforts that Korea as a country has been putting in for months makes my heart ache even more. I am really embarrassed and really regret not to sustain and support these efforts.
He then stated that he will take time off from content creation to take time to reflect on himself.
