José Mourinho says Jurgen Klopp didn’t deserve FIFA’s Best Coach award

José Mourinho slyly targeted Jurgen Klopp by stating that his title rival should not have lifted the FIFA Coach of the Year award.

It comes just days after Mourinho, involved in a showdown with Klopp after this week’s top-of-the-table game, suggested he would be in trouble if he emulated the German’s sideline antics.

Klopp was rewarded after leading Liverpool to their first title in 30 years last season.

But that surprised Mourinho by saying that the gong should have been for Bayern Munich manager Hansi Flick.

Flick lifted the Champions League and Bundesliga titles, just two of the FIVE trophies he has won this year.

Spurs coach Mourinho said: “I think the only chance that Flick will win is for Bayern to find two or three new competitions for him to win!

“So maybe if he wins seven titles in one season, maybe he will win the award.”

Mourinho, whose team is deep in the title race with Liverpool, added: “I think Flick has only won the Champions League, the Bundesliga, the Pokal, the name of his cup, the German Super Cup and the Super Cup. UEFA. He only won five. And the greatest of all.

Poor Flick. I think the only possibility is for Bayern to find two or three more trophies to see if they can win it. “

The Spurs, three points behind Klopp’s Reds in the title race, were defeated 2-1 at Anfield on Wednesday night.

Mourinho’s men host Leicester tomorrow and could be six points behind if Liverpool beat Crystal Palace today.
