JOSE MOURINHO says Tottenham have more important things to worry about than finishing above Arsenal.
The Spurs boss attacked the Gunners ahead of tomorrow’s North London derby.
Mourinho’s men are the best of the Prem, while the humble Arsenal is in 14th place, already eight points behind.
Asked about the significance of the rivalry, Mourinho said: “It means more when we are not in the position we are now.
“Because we are in such a good position, it is a little different.
“We want the points and we don’t just think, ‘We want to beat Arsenal because beating them is the only good thing we can give our fans.’
“It happened when we played Arsenal in the last part of the season.
“It was simply about winning against them to give us something, to have a good feeling.
“But right now we also look at the table and we are in a good position, fighting at the top of the league.
“But of course we never forget that there are historical rivalries and what they mean for fans.”
‘MORE MOTIVATION’
Some 2,000 local fans will be allowed in when the Spurs host Mikel Arteta’s team.
Asked if this will lift his team, Mourinho said: “Do you want to go to the most beautiful stadium in England and enjoy it?
“Or do you want to go play? If you just want to enjoy the stadium and your passion for football, I don’t think there is a big difference.
“But if they want to wear a Tottenham jersey and really play for us, that can give us a little more motivation and pleasure, yes.”
Eric Dier revealed that he was ready to leave Spurs before Mourinho traded him to center.
Dier, who signed a four-year contract in July, told the Daily Mail: “I had no desire to be in a club in the last year of my contract.”
