JAKARTA, November 29 (The Jakarta Post / ANN): President Joko “Jokowi” Widodo has asked parents to remain cautious and patiently continue to assist their children in remote learning, suggesting that most schools in the entire country would remain closed for the rest of the year amid the current Covid-19 pandemic.
Addressing the public during a virtual commemoration of National Teachers’ Day, the president reiterated that the safety of every student and school staff was of the utmost importance during the current coronavirus emergency.
“I realize there are a lot of parents who can’t wait until schools reopen,” Jokowi said, quoted by kompas.com.
“But we must be careful, because health and safety are crucial.”
He went on to say that schools across the archipelago would still have to apply and enforce current health protocols once they are allowed to reopen, to further slow the spread of the coronavirus.
