JOHOR BARU: The state government has reminded the public to also take steps to stop the spread of dengue fever during the movement control order (MCO) period.

Johor Health and Environment Committee Chairman R. Vidyananthan said that while efforts to fight Covid-19 are underway, the public should not forget to do their part to stop the spread of other diseases like dengue .

“It is important for everyone to take time during the MCO to also clean their home and their backyard to destroy Aedes mosquito breeding sites.

“I also urge store owners to clean up their respective facilities before reopening during the MCO’s conditional period,” it said in a statement Saturday (May 2).

He added that measures to destroy mosquito breeding sites should be taken in shops and offices that are about to open after being closed for a long time.

On another matter, Vidyananthan said the state Fire and Rescue Department had carried out public sanitation and cleaning operations around Popular Housing Projects (PPR) and government-rented homes (RSK), as well as used vehicles. to transport students from higher education institutions back to their home cities.

“As of Friday (May 1), some nine operations have been carried out around the PPR and RSK areas.

“Meanwhile, 20 disinfection operations were carried out on vehicles used to transport students, including 74 buses, 20 vans and 17 cars,” he said.
