PETALING JAYA: The Johor state government wants the Conditional Movement Control Order (CMCO) for the state to only apply to “red zone” districts and not the entire state.

A red zone is an area with more than 40 active cases.

In a statement, Johor Menteri Besar Hasni Mohammad said that the state government would propose a specific CMCO to avoid disrupting the economic sector and daily life in areas with a low number of cases.

He added that the state government would also propose special POEs to Putrajaya for a third plan that would allow travel to Singapore.

This third scheme, called the Daily Travel Agreement (DCA), comes after the previous Reciprocal Green Lane (RGL) and Periodic Travel Agreement (PCA).

“The Johor government is ready and has sufficient capacity to ensure the success of the DCA.

“This plan is very important to facilitate travel for Malaysians who have been in Singapore since the borders were closed eight months ago.”

Hasni said the state government is also proposing that the quarantine period for returning Malaysians, excluding those under the PCA, be reduced to seven days.

“Hopefully these recommendations from the Johor government can be immediately considered by the federal government for the good and well-being of all.”

On Saturday, Putrajaya announced a CMCO for seven peninsular Malaysian states, including Johor, amid a surge in Covid-19 cases.

The CMCO started on Monday and will end on December 6.
