JOHOR BAHRU: Sultan of Johor Sultan Ibrahim Almarhum Sultan Iskandar (pix) has expressed his disgust at the attitude of some people in the Mersing district who neglected the cleanliness aspect and caused certain public places to fill with garbage.

If this bad habit continues, it will have a negative impact on public health, he said.

Sultan Ibrahim said that the tourist district is a tourist attraction rich in natural beauty.

“I am saddened by what I have seen in various places. What is happening to Mersing? It should be a touristy place but sadly it is full of rubbish.

“Are we not ashamed to have guests in our houses who have become an eyesore? Please change your indifferent attitude and give up dirty habits, ”he said today in a statement posted on his official Facebook page.

He urged local authorities to enforce regulations effectively to discipline people.

Sultan Ibrahim said Mersing should emulate Bandar Maharani in Muar, which was named the cleanest resort city in ASEAN in 2018.

“Mersing has enormous potential to develop in ecotourism and it is also the gateway to the surrounding islands.

“I have many ideas on how to attract investment and development to Mersing, but people must play their part to keep it clean here. Nobody wants to visit a dirty place, ”he said. -Called
