Johor police record statements of 10 people in the death of a soldier investigation

JOHOR BARU: The police recorded the testimony of 10 witnesses in the case of a soldier who died after falling from the third floor of a building in the Kem Majidee of the Royal Malay Regiment of the Armed Forces, Batu Pahat.

Johor Police Chief Comm Datuk Ayob Khan Mydin Pitchay said the investigations involved two officers, seven low-ranking personnel and one member of the public.

He said the initial post-mortem report found no physical injuries or abuse that could be attributed to the death of the late 20-year-old Pbt Abdul Aziz Aznam.

“The preliminary post-mortem report found no external injuries or criminal elements that caused the death of the victim. However, we are still awaiting the full report from the lab.

“So far that’s what we have.

“We also took the testimony of a witness who is also a military man who saw the victim running and jumping from the third floor,” he said during a press conference at the Johor police headquarters here on Saturday (September 12). .

Comm Ayob also said his investigation revealed that the victim was on the run for 218 days.

He said that after Aziz completed basic military training, he continued with basic Commando training in the Special Operations Force (GGK).

“Maybe there are problems related to difficult fields, maybe there was psychological stress because the training of this special team is quite hard,” he said.

On August 29, a local newspaper reported that Aziz suffered serious head and body injuries from the fall.

Aziz was treated in the intensive care unit (ICU) of Sultanah Nora Ismail Hospital in Batu Pahat and died at 2.30 pm on 6 September.
