KOTA BHARU: A meeting between Malaysia’s Department of Islamic Development (JAKIM) and “famous” preachers will be held at the end of this month, said Deputy Prime Minister (Religious Affairs) Deputy Minister Ahmad Marzuk Shaary.
He said the meeting was to convey a message of harmony from the government, as well as to preserve the good name of religious groups and Islam itself.
He said that various problems that had arisen and that had been sensational today had given Islam a bad image, although only a few were involved.
“The ceremony was held to obtain relevant information, especially on the delivery of Islamic missions using the platform as a celebrity.
“We hope to bring this group of famous preachers together in late December,” he said when meeting at the Musaadah Fishermen’s Contribution Ceremony at the Kijang State Assembly, here today.
Also present was the Kijang State Assemblyman, who is also the Chairman of the State Health, Housing and Local Government Committee, Dr. Izani Husin.
He said this when asked to comment on a topic involving a participant in an Islamic missionary reality TV show whose topic is now hot with various allegations of sexual misconduct.
“We know that even if that case is an isolated case, but when it comes to a preacher, it will definitely give a bad image, especially Islam,” he said.
Earlier, Ahmad Marzuk, who is also a member of Parliament from Pengkalan Chepa, made contributions to 250 fishermen at the Kijang state headquarters who were unable to go out to sea during the monsoon season.
He said fishermen and farmers in two other areas, namely the Panchor and Chempaka state headquarters would also receive assistance. -Called
