KOTA KINABALU: PKR President Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim launched his campaign in Sabah stressing the importance of voting for a leader who will ensure the livelihoods of Sabahans.

“This state is a rich state and its people should not live in poverty. The revenue and treasures of the state must reach the bottom.

“This shows how important your responsibility is to choose a good leader,” he said yesterday during a ceramah in the Sook constituency.

I was campaigning for Sabah PKR’s Raymond Ahuar, who faces a five-way fight against the Liberal Democratic Party (LDP), Parti Cinta Sabah (PCS), Sabah STAR and PBRS.

Anwar started his election campaign in Sook, a state constituency located in Keningau, which is about 150 km from here.

He later spoke in the Klias constituency located in Beaufort and moved to Kudat, Kota Belud, and Tamparuli.

In Klias, Anwar emphasized that ethnicity should not be highlighted as the main traits of a leader, since integrity should be the main point of a leader.

“Our struggles are not to highlight a particular race as the main trait of a leader, but what is important is integrity,” he said during a ceramah.

In a joint statement with the seven Sabah PKR candidates, Anwar highlighted the importance of voting for a united coalition like Warisan Plus to ensure stability in politics and government.

“This is so that the state can focus on economic development and employment, fight Covid-19 and develop the tourism, agriculture, and economic sectors in rural areas,” he said.

The seven Sabah PKR candidates are Acting Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Christina Liew, Raymond, Mustapha Sakmud, Peto Galim, Abdul Rahman Yakub, Alijus Sipil and Sazalye Donol Abdullah.

After his ceramah in rural areas, Anwar addressed a talk at Api-Api in the state capital and later in Inanam.

In the Warisan Plus coalition, Parti Warisan Sabah will contest 46 seats, DAP seven, PKR seven and Upko 12.

A total of 447 candidates will face each other during the September 26 elections in 73 seats in Sabah.
