Annuar Musa says that Umno will not interfere in the affairs of other parties.

PETALING JAYA: Umno Secretary General Annuar Musa said last night that a call from a party stalwart to his ministers in the Perikatan Nasional government to resign following the PPBM’s decision to allow non-Malays into the party It was a personal opinion.

Annuar said that Umno had no intention of interfering in the affairs of other parties, noting that the letter from Muafakat Nasional (MN) is aimed at establishing an alliance comprising Malaysian and non-Malaysian parties.

MN is a pact forged between PAS and Umno and, more recently, PPBM.

Last week, PPBM said it would amend its constitution to allow non-Malays to fill leadership positions. Previously, it had also allowed non-Malays to join the party, but only as associate members.

Following this, the veteran leader of Umno, Tengku Razaleigh Hamzah or Ku Li, asked his party leaders in the cabinet to withdraw from the government as the PPBM decision disqualified him from being a member of the Malay-Muslim pact Muafakat Nasional. .

“That is a personal opinion and we must respect it as such. The decision was made by the party and at that time we did not share the opinion of Tengku Razaleigh.

“We will not interfere in the affairs of other parties. PAS, for example, has a wing of non-Muslim supporters. We respect your internal affairs.

“So if PPBM wants to open its membership to non-Malays, we have to respect that,” Trolak Selatan told reporters at Felda last night.

Annuar went on to say that MN was never just going to uphold the Malay-Muslim agenda and had invited non-Malay parties like MCA and MIC to join the alliance.

“We defend the Malaysian concept and take into account the different races. So any party that wants to welcome non-Malays is not a problem for Umno. “
