PETALING JAYA: A 70-year-old auto shop owner who disappeared on New Year’s Eve is feared dead.
This follows the recovery of a body from a trunk of a parked car in Taman Wawasan, Puchong on Wednesday night.
After being alerted by the public, police investigators summoned the fire and rescue department to assist in the recovery of the body from the car at around 8:30 p.m.
The victim is believed to have died several days earlier.
The case is classified as murder, but police have yet to confirm the identity of the victim until it is verified by an autopsy.
The family of the owner of the Loh Sin Kan car workshop had filed a police report on January 1 when the man failed to return to his Setia Alam home, Shah Alam after leaving for his workplace in Kampung Kayu Ara, Damansara one day before.
The family became more suspicious of Loh’s disappearance when they learned that her credit card was also used twice.
Loh’s wife had contacted a shop staff and was told that the man had come to work and was last seen leaving the shop in a customer’s car, a Volvo.
The case was initially investigated by the police as a missing person report.
