PUTRAJAYA: The Ministry of Health has been asked to assess whether it is necessary to place Selangor under an enhanced movement control (MCO) order following an increase in positive Covid-19 cases.
Chief Minister Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob said the ministry has also been asked to see if there is a need to tighten standard operating procedures (SOPs) for the state, as well as for Kuala Lumpur and Putrajaya.
All three areas have been under conditional MCO until October 27.
The defense minister said there were complaints that standard operating procedures had been lax as the public was allowed to frequent gyms and public parks during this time.
“We have asked the ministry to investigate this, review standard operating procedures and give the National Security Council (NSC) its assessment of the situation.
“While there are those who feel that putting these areas under an improved OLS will do the trick to reduce cases, keep in mind that this means that the economy will have to shut down and food will go home,” he said. said on Monday (October 19).
Ismail Sabri said the NSC is expected to hear an assessment on the situation soon.
