Chief Minister (Security Group) Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob has appealed to the public not to make Covid-19 related matters, such as quarantine regulations, into a comic subject for entertainment purposes.

“I hope we can be more responsible. We should not take this (Covid-19) as a joke or a laughing matter. It is an important problem, since it has to do with people’s lives. Do not assume that this is an issue that can be taken lightly or laughed at because it has far-reaching consequences, ”he said at a press conference today (September 22).

Ismail Sabri’s statement came after a local social media influencer known as Chazynash posted a parody wearing a pink bracelet and videotaped himself dining at a public restaurant. The parody has gone viral with more than 500,000 views on Chazynash’s Instagram account.

This pink bracelet is issued by the Ministry of Health for those who have to fulfill a mandatory quarantine period of two weeks.

In the video, Chazynash’s action appeared to have angered those around him. However, his pink bracelet turned out to be a ‘stay-at-home order’ from his wife, who did not allow him to leave the house for two weeks.

According to a report from mStar, Chazynash, whose real name is Syed Fernarsh Syed Badlishah, posted an apology yesterday (September 21) for those who were upset by his video.

She claimed that the reaction of the people in the video to her pink bracelet was “100% staged” as everyone around her was friends and everyone was acting. The video is still on his Instagram account.

Ismail Sabri said the influencer may have already made two mistakes in the video.

“If he were really in quarantine, coming out with the pink bracelet would have justified some action against him.”

“So if you are not in quarantine, but you use the bracelet or anything issued by the Ministry of Health as an accessory for certain purposes and in this case to mislead the public, then you are also wrong to do so.”

He added that it is up to the police to take action in this regard.
